Being born and raised in Zambia has given me a strong link to the Fistula Foundation and wanting to help in our small way. We have been giving back to the fistula foundation for many years on our personal side and am pleased to continue it with our “Give Back” program with Hummingbird Tearoom.

The Fistula Foundation has helped hundreds of women in developing countries with life-changing surgery. Once healed, the women leave the clinic with a new dress and a return of their dignity. The Fistula Foundation now has a clinic in Zambia, which we are incredibly proud to support!

For Kids’ Sake (FKS) is an international fundraising project that helps children, schools, and orphanages in Bangladesh. Through their assistance, thousands of lives are transformed in one of the poorest countries in the world. FKS also strives to create financial sustainability by supporting local cottage industries and providing project managers with on-site leadership training. A worldwide network of FKS volunteers raises money via various creative events along with donations and grants.

In the six-plus years, Hummingbird Tearoom & Bakery has been in operation, we have met wonderful people. We have had many baby showers, with the mothers coming in with their newborns and now as toddlers. On the flip side, we have seen healthy women, then being diagnosed with cancer. In wanting to help these lovely inspiring people we started #soupforhope program, where we provide a nutritious soup for the day after chemotherapy.
